George Floyd, Racism and What History Keeps Teaching Us!

We at Bridge of Hope Resource Center, Inc. are saddened by the recent events of this past week involving the murder of George Floyd. It is going to be extremely important, moving forward, for all of us to have, ” meaningful conversation,” about racism in our society, communities and families. NPR ( National Public Radio) conducted a recent interview with Author Jennifer Harvey on her book, “Raising White Kids: Bringing …Up Children in a Racially Unjust America.” As parents, we, as well as other minority parents, have had the daunting task of speaking with our children on staying safe and what to do when encountering police during a stop. The senseless death of George Mr. Floyd, helped many of us to see the ugliness of racism displayed in the loss of an innocent human life. Racism has been a long standing problem in this nation and one which we must address, confront and raise awareness like we do other issues. Bridge of Hope Resource Center, Inc. continues to remain committed to educating our citizens on issues which matters to them most. We are not leaving any stones unturned, we have begun to encourage others to begin to address the issue of racism through , “Meaningful Conversations,” as recommended in Ms. Harvey’s book. Shining the light on evil and on anything that threatens to divide us all.

President
